Fellowship
The ISN offers grants for young nephrologists from low- and middle-income countries to get up to 12 months of high-quality, hands-on training at a host center of their choice. ISN Fellows are required to return to their home countries, where they make use of the skills they learned and become leaders in their field.
In order to encourage Fellows to pursue training closer to home that is more culturally and linguistically relevant to them, priority is given to those who apply to train in their home region, as well as those applying to train at an ISN Regional Training Center.
New! Recognizing the benefits of less expensive and more culturally relevant training, the difficulties of travelling abroad during a pandemic, and that local resources to fund inter-city travel still do not exist for many doctors in LMICs, the ISN will now consider applications for same-country Fellowships. Applicants wishing to take part in this pilot project must be planning to travel to a different city for their Fellowship and come from a part of the country that has fewer resources for kidney care. They must also verify whether support from their national society of nephrology is available before applying with the ISN.

Interventional Nephrology Scholarships
The ISN provides funding for ISN members from low- and middle-income countries the chance to train in specialized interventional nephrology procedures at an ISN Interventional Nephrology Training Center of their choice.
Two training options are available – Foundation (Level 1) and Advanced (Level 2):
· Foundation courses comprise two to four weeks of observational and hands-on training in a specific procedure.
· Advanced courses comprise three months of hands-on training in a broad spectrum of procedures, notably endovascular.
Successful applicants must also complete the ‘ISN Interventional Nephrology eLearning Curriculum’ before starting either level at the Host Institution.
The deadline to apply for Interventional Nephrology Scholarships is April 1st, 2022.
Clinical Research
The ISN Clinical Research Program provides seed funding to support research and education initiatives involving nephrologists, health workers, and local authorities in low and middle-income countries.
The Program helps implement research projects to detect and manage non-communicable chronic diseases such as CKD, AKI, hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
While the deadline for this program is May 1st, 2022, applicants must submit their proposal to their Regional Coordinator by April 1st in order to get their approval to submit. For more information, please contact crp@theisn.org .
Mentorship Program
The ISN Mentorship Program is an initiative to foster mutually beneficial learning partnerships in nephrology. It connects health professionals within the ISN community, offering mentors the chance to develop coaching and leadership skills and mentees to work alongside them toward specific professional goals.

Educational Ambassadors
